During the events celebrating 25 years of deafness treatment in Poland and 20 years of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing that took place on November 7, 2016 in the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall Professor Henryk Skarżyński was honoured to join the Pantheon of Polish Inventors and Discoverers.

During the ceremony, dr. Bogusław Węgliński, the Charter Secretary of the Pantheon of Polish Inventors and Discoverers, said that the Kopernik–Lukasiewcz declaration to create the Pantheon of Polish Inventors and Discoverers concluded at the end of the sitting of the International Forum for Intellectual Property Management on March 12, 2010 assigned the Charter to present the achievements of the Polish science, technology and economy gained over the years in the country and abroad, following the countries that build their wealth and hard-to-beat prevalence in the area of intellectual capital and not raw material or cheap labour force. Fulfilling their duty, members of the Charter decided to honour prof. Henryk Skarżyński.

Prof. Jan Szmidt, Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland said: “Mr. Chairman, Members of the Charter, Dear Professor Henryk Skarżyński, Ladies and Gentlemen! I agreed to fulfil this duty with joy and satisfaction although it is a tough duty because the scale of the output and merits of Prof. Henryk Skarżyński is so large. It’s a pleasure for me to say that the whole today’s Jubilee Gala is a great and extraordinary laudation in honour of Professor Skarżyński. I can only confirm, taking all of you as my witnesses, that I sign my name under this beautiful laudation”.

Prof. Michał Kleiber, the Chairman of the Charter of the Pantheon of Polish Inventors and Discoverers and the Chairman of the European Science Academy, read the official statement of the Charter: “In honour of great scientific and clinical merits of prof. Henryk Skarżyński, the Charter of the Pantheon of Polish Inventors and Discoverers, which honours the most prominent late Polish innovators, granted prof. Skarżyński a prestigious distinction ranking him among those Poles, who introduce new fundamental ideas and values that bring glory to our country and constitute a great model to be followed in terms of practical application of human creativity and the feeling of social mission”.

The Pantheon of Polish Inventors and Discoverers is an organization whose activities remind us about the need for social education about the achievements of Polish inventors and discoverers and also present the contribution of the Polish science and technology in the world heritage. The Pantheon composes of many prominent people: Mikołaj Kopernik, Stanisław Staszic, Ignacy Łukasiewicz, Maria Skłodowska-Curie. As its founders stress, those people set the highest target. The knowledge must be present in the public sphere at all times and on a large scale.
