Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing awarded Polish Academy of Sciences Medal

On 26 October 2020, during the opening ceremony of the 2nd’ Health of Poles’ 2020 Congress, Prof. Romuald Zabielski, Vice President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, solemnly presented the Medal of the Polish Academy of Sciences. On behalf of himself and the team of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing, the award was accepted by Professor Henryk Skarżyński. At the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences request, the Medal was awarded “for special merits for the development of Polish and world science, related to the social role of science. “

At the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing scientific and research activities have a special place. Prof. Henryk Skarżyński strongly emphasizes the importance of combining scientific and training activities, believing that this approach ensures the most effective and harmonious development of the scientific staff and the entire Institute. The Institute’s scientific and research activities are interdisciplinary and related to otorhinolaryngology, audiology, phoniatrics, genetics, rehabilitation, biomedical engineering, biocybernetics, acoustics, and telemedicine.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first distinction awarded by the Polish Academy of Sciences to Professor Skarżyński. In 2012 Prof. Henryk Skarżyński – at the request of the Division of Medical Sciences and taking into account the recommendations of the Chapter – received the Nicolaus Copernicus Medal of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This Medal is awarded only to the most outstanding scientists.
