“Outstanding Pole” Statuettes have been awarded during the „Teraz Polska” Anniversary Gala on June 11, 2011 at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw, Poland. The Competition Jury grants this prestigious title for the individuals whose activity is recognized in Poland and abroad.
This year 2 Poles have been presented this eminent title. Prof. Henryk Skarzynski has been awarded the title in the Science category – for his outstanding work and activity in Poland. The other laureate prof. Wieslaw L. Nowinski – has been awarded for his outstanding work as a radiologist in Singapore.
Prof. Henryk Skarzynski’s introductory speech has been delivered by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences prof. Michal Kleiber. The commemorative statuette has been presented to prof. Skarzynski by the Polish Senate Marshal Mr. Bogdan Borusewicz.
The “Outstanding Pole” Competition is an initiative, whose main objective is to promote outstanding individuals contributing to create a strong, positive image of Poland and Poles across the country and abroad. Since 2010 the “Outstanding Pole” title has been awarded to prof. Maria Siemionow, prof. Hilary Koprowski, one of the gratest polish composers – Wojciech Kilar, and a great polish sportsman – Adam Malysz.
The Ceremony has been followed by the concert of a unique duet – world famous soprano singer – Aleksandra Kurzak and a leader of the Zakopower band – Sebastian Karpiel-Bulecka accompanied by the Grand Theatre Symphony Orchestra. The evening has been hosted by Agata Konarska oraz Grzegorz Mistal.
