  • Award for the World Hearing Center of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing

    In the 5. edition of the “Healthy Future – Inspirations,” the World Hearing Center at the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing was distinguished in the “Innovative Hospital – Management” category. The “greatest number of highly specialized surgeries of various types of hearing implants for different types of deafness in the world (as of 2021)” was submitted for the 

  • Prof. Henryk Skarżyński awarded by the editors of the weekly “Wprost” magazine

    On 26 September 2022, a gala was held to award “Wprost” Innovators. The awardees were people and companies from various industries who decided to take risks in the time of crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and introduced modern technological solutions to the market. The Wprost Innovator Award in the Personality in Innovation category went to Prof. Henryk Skarżyński. Dr. Renata Korneluk, 

  • The Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing awarded by the Main Council of Research Institutes

    On the occasion of its 30th anniversary,  the  Main Council of Research Institutes (RGIB) held a ceremonial meeting in the Auditorium of the Warsaw University of Technology on 12 September 2022. The Council is an organization representing currently 91 Polish research institutes in economy, infrastructure, environment, agriculture, medicine, broadly understood security, and humanities.   • The 8th  edition of “Beats of Cochlea” has finished

    The Gala Concert of the 8th “Beats of Cochlea” International Music Festival entitled “Artists to Patients” coincided with two major anniversaries of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Kajetany. July is a special month for the World Hearing Center and the world’s otosurgery. On 16 July 1992 – 30 years ago – Prof. Henryk Skarżyński performed the first cochlear 

  • 30 years of the Polish school of otosurgery 

    In 2022, the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing celebrates the 30th  anniversary of the first cochlear implant surgery in Poland performed on a deaf person and the 20th anniversary of the world’s first surgery to restore hearing to a patient with partial deafness. Both surgeries by Prof. Henryk Skarżyński were turning points in otosurgery and milestones in treating hearing disorders. This year also marks 

  • Prof. Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science, visited the World Hearing Center 

    On 7 July 2022, the Minister of Education and Science, prof. Przemysław Czarnek visited the World Hearing Center of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Kajetany. During the meeting, Minister Czarnek learned about deafness treatment programs implemented at the Center, and the history of the facility and its team, which this year celebrates the 30th  anniversary of 

  • Towards a new world order

    XXIX Welconomy Forum was held on 30-31 May 2022 in Toruń. During the opening session of the congress, experts debated on, among others, fundamental economic issues in the context of events unfolding beyond our eastern border. Speakers at the opening session of the event included: Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; 

  • Prof. Henryk Skarżyński received doctor honoris causa title of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw 

    On 27 May 2022, in the Schuman Hall of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, the Senate of the UKSW held a formal session on the occasion of the University Fest Day. During the session, Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, MD, Ph.D., dr. h.c. multi received the title of doctor honoris causa of the University. Many guests gathered at this ceremony, held on the eve 

  • Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing received the “Maria Grzegorzewska’s Glasses” award

    On 25 May 2022, during the 100th anniversary of the Maria Grzegorzewska University celebrations, the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing received the “Maria Grzegorzewska’s Glasses” award. The Senate of the University bestowed the award in recognition of the Institute’s merits in research and medical innovations and measurable support for people with disabilities and their families. The award 

  • Professor nominations for academic teachers and researchers 

    On 18 May 2022, at the Presidential Palace, Andrzej Duda, the President of the Republic of Poland, presented professor nominations to over 50 academic teachers, scientific workers and employees of the art institutions. Among the nominees was Prof. Krzysztof Kochanek, Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing. – I congratulate you on this achievement with all my heart.   • Cooperation agreement signed with the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) 

    On 11 May 2022, Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, President of ZUS, and Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, Director of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing, signed an agreement of cooperation. The parties have agreed to cooperate as partners in the fields of education, scientific and research, and implement joint projects in the field of prevention and medical certification related to the risk of inability to work

  • Prof. Henryk Skarżyński honored by the members of the Cracow branch of the Polish Society of Otorhinolaryngologists and Head and Neck Surgeons

    During the opening ceremony of the XXXV World Congress of Audiology that took place in Kajetany on 10 April 2022, Prof. Henryk Skarżyński received a Przemysław Wiktor Odrowąż Pieniążek Medal from the members of the Krakow Section of the Polish Society of Otorhinolaryngologists Head and Neck Surgeons. The Medal was presented by dr. Patryk Hartwich, the Section Chairman from the Department

    On 24th March 2022, the Belvedere restaurant in Łazienki Królewskie hosted the gala of the 19th edition of the plebiscite by the “Puls Medycyny” journal – the List of Hundred 2021  (Lista Stu 2021). Once again, the chapter recognized Prof. Krzysztof Simon as the most influential person in Polish medicine in 2021 and Maciej Miłkowski, Deputy Minister of Health, as the person having the 

  • World Hearing Day 2022

    World Hearing Day, initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), is celebrated on March 3 each year. Its objective is to raise awareness about the prevention of deafness and hearing loss and to promote hearing prevention worldwide. The main celebration is held annually at WHO headquarters in Geneva. More and more member countries and partner agencies have joined World Hearing Day by organizing 

  • The world premiere of “My Moonlight Sonata” documentary

    The world premiere of the “My Moonlight Sonata” documentary will occur during the 35th  World Congress of Audiology in Warsaw and Kajetany on April 10-13, 2022.
