Awards for two telemedical systems of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing received at EUROINVENT 2013 in Romania

The 5th European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation EUROINVENT 2013 took place on May 9th – 11th, 2013, in the university city of Iasi, Romania. During the exhibition the jury assessed presented inventions. The Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing submitted for the competition two solutions in the field of telemedicine, developed by the specialists from the Institute: “Telefitting” – remote fitting of cochlear implant parameters and the System of Integrated Communication Operations “SZOK” ®. Both systems are already implemented and used on an everyday basis by specialists in the World Hearing Center in Kajetany and in 20 partner-centers throughout Poland.

Among participants there were representatives of universities, research institutes, industry and individual inventors from 16 countries: Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Egypt, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Moldova, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Romania. In total, the exhibition gathered nearly 300 inventions, innovative products and solutions in various fields of science, industry, biotechnology, technology, computer science, etc.

Inventions were assessed by an international 19-person jury. After presentations, the jury awarded the Gold Medal for “Telefitting” solution and the Silver Medal for the System of Integrated Communication Operations “SZOK” ®.

Moreover, prizes from national delegations and institutions were also awarded:

  • for “SHOCK”®  – Diploma of Excellence and a gold medal from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania)
  • the system “Telefitting” – EYReC (ENVEX Young Researcher Club – EYReC) Special Award from the University of Malaysia Perlis and a Diploma of Excellence from the National Institute for Research and Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry of Bucharest.

AGEPI Medal, awarded by the National Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova, also went to the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing – the creator of both inventions.

EUROINVENT exhibition was held at the premises of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi and attracted great attention of visitors.
