LION 2013 – Live International Otolaryngology Network

On May 16th, 2013 took place the LION: the 8th Global Otology – Neurotology Live Surgical Broadcast, presenting the newest surgical techniques in otolaryngology and neurootology.

During each LION meeting are presented more than 30 ‘life’ surgeries performed by the best otosurgeons in global leading centers in Brazil, Australia, Turkey, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and in Poland.

The Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing has been participating in the LION program for many years, and it is one of the presenting centers since 2010.

On May 16th , in the modern teleconference studio in the World Hearing Center in Kajetany, the participants were able to observe demonstration surgeries transmitted from the best clinical centers around the world. They also had the opportunity to discuss and ask questions of the presenting surgeons.

This year during the LION Prof. Henryk Skarzynski presented two surgical procedures:

  • cochlear implantation in partial deafness (Med-El Flex electrode)
  • ossiculoplasty with glass-ionomer cement.
