His Magnificence Rector of the Medical University of Gdańsk Prof. Marcin Gruchała granted the award to the co-authors of the textbook “An Outline of Otoneurology”, edited by Prof. Waldemar Narożny and Prof. Henryk Skarżyński. The two-volume textbook on otoneurology describes difficult issues regarding anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, outpatient and clinical neurological, otolaryngological, audiological and radiological diagnostics of the balance system. Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, for his scientific contribution to the textbook, received a Diploma promoting his didactic and team achievements of the second degree. The ceremony of awarding diplomas took place on 17 December 2019.
It is worth adding that the authors of the textbook drew from their own experiences and observations, which is an additional merit of this book. “An Outline of Otolaryngology” fills a gap on the Polish publishing market related to studies dealing with problems arising from vestibular disorders. In addition, a lot of attention is devoted to dizziness and balance disorders. It is an important source of information for otolaryngologists, neurologists, audiologists, phoniatrists as well as family doctors, radiologists and physiotherapists. It is also addressed to future trainee doctors – students of medical faculties. This textbook pays also a unique homage to the memory of the recently deceased Prof. dr. hab. n. med. dr. h.c. Antoni Prusiński, a prominent neurologist and one of the founders of otoneurology, whose great involvement contributed to publication of the textbook.
The following authors and co-authors of some chapters of the textbook were also awarded: Prof. Piotr Skarżyński, dr n. med. Grażyna Tacikowska, dr Magdalena Sosna, dr Monika Boruta.
