On 28 October 2021, an official gala of the contest “Personalities and Successes of the Year 2021” was held in the theatre Scena Relax in Warsaw. The editor-in-chief of the magazine “Personalities and Successes” Mariusz Pujszo handed statuettes in 5 categories. Prof. Henryk Skarżyński was distinguished in the category “Personality of the Decade.” Distinction in this category was also awarded to: Andrzej Malinowski, Ph.D. in Economic Sciences, Prof. Mirosław Ząbek, Andrzej Grabowski, Dr. Adam Struzik, Ewa Minge, Prof. Michał Kleiber, Apoloniusz Tajner, Alicja Węgorzewska, Ph.D, Karol Strasburger, Jarosław Chrobociński, Andrzej Supron, Izabela Trojanowska, Marcin Muszyński, Paweł Trochimiuk, Sobiesław Zasada, Urszula Dudziak, Rafał Michalski, Michał Milowicz and Władysław Grochowski.
As we can read in the justification, the distinction was awarded to Prof. H. Skarżyński for performing Poland’s and Central and Eastern Europe’s first Cochlea implantation operations on the deaf and the world’s first Cochlea implantation operations on persons with partial deafness, among other things.
The competition “Personalities and Successes” is an event during which the organisers reward outstanding personalities as well as persons and companies for their extraordinary work deserving the name “Success of the Year”.
The “Personalities of the Decade” award was given to Prof. Henryk Skarżyński at a very special time. 2021 is a year of jubilees for Professor and his Team – 25th anniversary of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing and the 30th anniversary of the commencement of the deafness treatment programme. It is also worth reminding that five years ago Prof. Henryk Skarżyński won the title Personality of the Year 2016.
The evening was graced by performances by: Śląsk Ensemble, Alicja Węgorzewska and Michał Milowicz.
