On 28 January 2021, the Senate of Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw nominated Prof. Henryk Skarżyński as the chairman of the University Board. The tenure of the newly-elected University Board has begun on 1 January 2021.
University Board is a public university body comprising 6 to 8 persons appointed by the Senate. At least half of them must be from outside the university community. Also, the chairman of students’ self-government is a mandatory member of the board. The present make-up of the University Board of the Cardinal Wyszyński University (UKSW) is the following: Assoc. Prof., Jan Cieciucha, Ph.D., DSc, Head of the Institute of Psychology at the Christian Philosophy Faculty of UKSW; Prof. Father Waldemar Cisło, Ph.D., DSc, lecturer in fundamental theology at the Theological Faculty of UKSW; Dr. Piotr Jednaszewski, adviser of the University of St Andrews; Tomasz Mankiewicz, Chancellor of UKSW; Dr. Witold Mroziewski, Auxiliary Bishop of Diocese of Brooklyn in the United States of North America; Ewa Staruch, a student in pedagogy and journalism at UKSW.
The University Board’s tasks include pronouncing opinions on the university’s strategies and statutes, monitoring financial management, appointing candidates for rectorship, and approving the university’s strategy execution report.
It is worth adding that the UKSW is not the first university that Prof. H. Skarżyński supports with his organizational and didactic experience. In 2020, he was the chairman of the first University Board of Maria Grzegorzewska University.
