In November, in the World Hearing Center took place following two editions of the very popular and highly regarded international training workshop in the otosurgery of implantable devices Window Approach Workshop (WAW).
WAW ear surgery workshops have been organized in Kajetany for nine years. They are addressed to otosurgeons who want to improve their knowledge of the newest surgical techniques, indications and applications of hearing implants. A particular attraction of this series is an opportunity to study application of implants in partial deafness treatment under the direction of Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, trailblazer and creator of the Partial Deafness Treatment (PDT) Program.
Workshop on 23-34 November was organized under the framework of international training courses the CI Surgical Foundation Course organized in cooperation with the Cochlear Academy already for the fifth time. It had 13 participants representing different countries and cochlear implant centers from Greece, Belgium, Malta, Portugal, Sudan, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia.
One week later, next – 22nd Window Approach Workshop took place with participation of 18 ear surgeons from Turkey, Niger and Germany.
Scientific program of WAW Window Approach Workshops includes lectures of specialists from the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing and invited lecturers, as well as a hands-on training in techniques of implantation of various hearing devices. Uniquely interesting and valuable for participants are demonstration surgeries of different types of hearing implants performed by Prof. Henryk Skarżyński and the team of the Otorhinolaryngology Surgery Clinic.
