On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Polish independence, the Prime Minister awarded professor Henryk Skarżyński with the “Medal of the 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence”, handed by Voivode of Mazovia Zdzisław Sipiera. The ceremony took place on November 30th, 2018 at the headquarters of the Voivode. Professor H. Skarżyński is one of t65 citizens of over 5 million Mazovian community who received this distinction. Together with prof. Mirosław Ząbek they represent the world of science and medicine of the capital region.
The medal was established by a resolution of the Council of Ministers to pay the tribute and express recognition to these generations of the Polish Nation, which were steadfastly struggling to preserve Polishness – repeatedly paying with their blood – contributed to Poland’s independence after 123 years of servitude. Among the honored were members of underground organizations, anti-communist opposition activists, pedagogues, historical educators, regional culture promoters, doctors, athletes, and volunteers. Everyone shares the idea of acting for the benefit of Poland and the local community.
The 100th Anniversary of Independence Reclaiming Medal is a silver-plated badge, which depicts images of eminent Poles connected with the regaining of independence by the Republic – Wojciech Korfanty, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Wincenty Witos, Józef Piłsudski, Roman Dmowski, Ignacy Daszyński and Józef Haller. There is also an inscription saying: What the generations have managed, why would you not be able to cope with it as well?
The 100th Anniversary Medals were also presented to: Fr. The celebration was attended by Maria Koc – The Deputy of Speaker of the Senate, Parliament Deputies Anna Cicholska and Grzegorz Woźniak, as well as Deputy Province Governors Sylwester Dąbrowski and Artur Standowicz.
