  • 15th Anniversary of World Hearing & Speech Center

    May 22nd marks the 15th anniversary of the opening of World Hearing and Speech Center (WHC). After seven years of collecting funds – mainly from own resources – by the team led by prof. Henryk Skarżyński – the World Hearing and Speech Center in Kajetany was built and put into operation.   • Debate in the World Hearing Center with participation of Agata Kornhauser-Duda

    On 26th March 2018, the First Lady had visited the World Hearing Center of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing and took part in the debate with participation of patients. During the meeting, Agata Kornhauser-Duda has received the honorary statuette of the Friend of the Festival ‘Beats of Cochlea’. In the debate ‘Music in human auditory development’ 

  • Patients of prof. Henryk Skarzynski were guests at the Presidential Palace

    On February 24, 2018, a concert was organised at the Presidential Palace to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Frederic Chopin’s first public performance. The most musically gifted patients of prof. Henryk Skarzynski had the opportunity to listen to the unusual concert – among them: Anna Adamowska, Weronika Niczyporuk, Estera Łabiga, Daria Władzińska and Olaf Kaca.   • 20th anniversary of the first implantation of the auditory brainstem implant in Poland

    This year, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first implantation of the auditory brainstem implant in Poland, which was carried out on January 9, 1998 by prof. Henryk Skarzynski in cooperation with scientists from Austria and Germany. Poland has become the fourth country in the world in which this type of difficult and complicated treatment was carried out. The 12-hour operation was 

  • The 22nd anniversary of establishing of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing

    On January 9, 2018 we celebrate 22 years since the establishment of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing, a leading Polish research institute with the category A + and a highly specialized hospital providing comprehensive care to people with hearing, voice, speech, balance and breathing impairment.   • The first in Central and Eastern Europe cochlear implantation using HiRes Ultra device with new HiFocus SlimJ straight thin electrode.

     On 24 October 2017, in the World Hearing Center of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology in Kajetany, took place the first in CEE cochlear implant surgery with the newest thin, straight electrode HiFocus SlimJ. The operating surgeon was Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, Director of the Institute and Head of the Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Surgery Clinic. Prof. H. Skarżyński is one of the 

  • Hearing screening in first graders in Mazowsze region

    One of the priorities of Prof. Henryk Skarżyński and the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing under his management is the program of hearing screening in children at various ages. The team of the Institute in cooperation with numerous Polish and international centers has created the foundations for screening programs – developed the methods, procedures and equipment necessary 

  • The patients have beaten their own Guinness World Record

    On 15th July 2017, on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the first in Poland cochlear implantation in a deaf patient that had been performed by Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, Kajetany were visited by grateful patients and their families. Altogether nearly 2 thousand guests visited the World Hearing Center on that day. The most important point in the program of this great reunion was the attempt 

  • The only such concert in the world

    On the occasion of the jubilee of 25th anniversary of the first in Poland cochlear implantation of a deaf patient performed by Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, in the World Hearing Center and Center of Hearing and Speech ‘Medincus’ took place Clinical Workshops and Scientific Conference under the framework of the Program ‘Music in Human Auditory Development’ on 10-14 July 2017.   • 5th Anniversary of World Hearing Center

    May the 10th 2017 is the 5th anniversary of the opening of the World Hearing Center (WHC), an extremely important institution for the development of science and the search for new ways to diagnose and treat the defects of senses. The originator, creator and director of the institution is prof. Henryk Skarżyński. The WHC is located in Kajetany 

  • The International Day of Hearing Protection

    On March 3rd we are celebrating the International Day of Hearing Protection (known also as the International Day for Ear and Hearing), initiated by the World Health Organization. According to the WHO, more than 328 million adults and 32 million children in the world have severe to profound hearing loss.   • The International Cochlear Implant Day

    February 25th, the 60th anniversary of the first in the world cochlear implantation, was the International Cochlear Implant Day. In Poland, the first surgery restoring hearing to a totally deaf person with application of a cochlear implant was performed by Prof. Henryk Skarżyński on July 16, 1992. One day later a cochlear implant, for the first time in Poland, was implanted in a deaf child. The International 

  • Grzegorz Płonka „The Man without Barriers”

    On 2nd December 2016 Grzegorz Płonka, patient of Prof. Henryk Skarżyński and laureate of the 1st International Music Festival for Children, Youths, and Adults with Hearing Disorders “Beats of Cochlea”, has won the Competition ‘The Man without Barriers”. This year in the competition there were 20 half-finalists, very strong and creative personalities. The ceremonial Gala of the Competition 

  • „Interrupted silence” – word and music spectacle

    The spectacle „Interrupted silence” with the participation of artists and patients of the Institute has finished the celebrations of two jubilees taking place in 2016: 25th anniversary of the program of treatment of deafness in Poland and 20th anniversary of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing. The spectacle, produced based on an idea and screenplay prepared

    On 14 November 2016 the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Stanisław Karczewski had invited the active and full of professional, social and physical senior citizens for the meeting ‘Active, healthy ageing’.
